From a student supply store to a lunch restaurant. We have been supporting students for 60 years.
Campusravita has a long history: the company was founded in 1966. We have been involved in providing student services on the current main campus of Tampere University of Applied Sciences for almost six decades. Restaurant operations have been our main activity for over thirty years. But the company took its first steps in the form of a bookstore! Our bookstore operated on campus until 2024.

1960’S
In 1966 Insinöörioppilastuki Oy was founded on the the premises of the Tampere Technical College. The main business was a student supply store. The company was registered in the Trade Register on 25 February, 1966.
The original operations included publishing and selling textbooks. In the same year, a grill and kiosk business was tried, but it was decided that the time was not yet right.
1970’S
The student supply store established its place in the technical college community and our role in supporting students was strengthened. In 1970, a significant change in the service was the introduction of a photocopying service.
Fun fact: In 1975, calculators were made generally available to all students, and this was of course also reflected in the shop. “Calculators have replaced slide rules!”
1980’S
In the autumn 1981, a meal subsidy similar to the current one was introduced at TEKU, worth FIM 5.50.
As the number of students grew, the company was involved in considering the renovation of the student cafeteria: a design competition was organized for students.
At the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, some students had completely free meals.
1990’S
In 1994, the restaurant operations of the university of applied sciences’ were completely transferred to the management of Insinöörioppilastuki Oy. The canteen was renovated to provide more space to serve the needs of the growing campus.
In 1996, Tampere University of Applied Sciences was founded when several educational institutions merged under one roof.
2000’S
In 2000 the company’s name changed to Tampere University of Applied Sciences Student Support Oy (Tamkotuki Oy).
In September 2000, we opened the Info Café to serve our customers even better.
In 2003, the company committed to the following values: community, sustainable development and customer oriented approach. These three things continue to be emphasized in our values.
The “evening meal” supported by Kela began in autumn 2009.
In the 2000s, we also offered a staffing services for a short time under the name Wäkipyörä?
2010’S
In the year 2010 Tampere University of Applied Sciences and Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences merged. In the same year the company became fully owned by the Tampere University of Applied Sciences community, when Tampere University of Applied Sciences became a co-owner.
In 2011 The company’s name changed to Campusravita Oy.
The bookstore was renovated in 2012. The operations expanded with the addition of thesis covers, increased selection and possibility to load your bus card.
The kitchen and restaurant facilities were renovated and expanded during the campus renovation in 2013.
In 2017, the company expanded its operations by opening two lunch restaurants in the city center service units. Restaurant Pyynikki served as a student restaurant.
2020’S
The company’s brand image was changed at the beginning of the decade.
CampusGrill opened in G-building in November 2021 and it was welcomed with joy! The bookstore closed its doors in 2024.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company’s operations had to be limited and the lunch restaurants in the city center were closed.
The company, together with the Tampere Student Union, established a small grocery store (Market Trikoo) in Pyynikki and it was in operation for a little over a year.
Due to the impact of distance learning and digitalization, it was decided to close the bookstore in 2024.
In 2026, Campusravita Oy will celebrate its 60th anniversary and we will publish glimpses from past years throughout the year.
